going green

My long long time friend Bri introduced me today to Green Gables Cafe for lunch! What a delightful & healthful treat it was. Turns out another long time friend from High School is the owner, Laura which made  for an extra special experience. The food is organic, vegan and vegetarian friendly and they have sustainable catering delicious & nutritious never got so good!

Small and charming this place is only open for breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday so get there while you can. Prices will not break the bank so order dessert after its worth it! Today we went for the carrot cake as per Bri's request and it was definitely something I am going back for even if its just for coffee and sweets. Lunch was great as well...homemade lemonade, organic lunch bowl made of brown rice and lentil soup and baked crab cake salad were todays choices and they were each tasty and guilt-free.

I will probably be there at least once a week.

happy to know you

Morgans in Wynwood is the first time in a long time that I had a meal that really encompassed all the elements of a pleasant experience. The restaurant boasts being "modern comfort food" and from the feel of the surroundings to the food on your table it really is what they say it is. Recently, I had a prime time let down at Prime Italian and mistakenly thought I would be satisfied at STK but, hundreds of dollars later, crap service and lousy food and I was still looking to fill the void. So, after a recommendation from my lovely friend, coincidentally named Morgan and a free Friday night we headed over to try it out with another couple of foodies.

The place seems like your in someones home unpretentious and welcoming. Morgan's large outdoor porch creates sort of a southern feel and inside its clean and modern looking in a pleasant way. There is tons of parking so it makes it easy and safe in a neighborhood that still "up and coming". Service is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. Try the Moroccan Stew, Morgans Way Pescadito and the Snapper...Lamb Chops didn't have any complaints at the table so those I'll recommend too. Please ladies and gents do not hesitate to order the dozen cookies that are offered because they are made to order and FANTASTIC. We happened to try oatmeal raisin and it would be a crime not to go with the chocolate chip cookies. Warm, chewy, crispy, gooey....ok, Ill stop now you get the point it truly is a MUST.

I am looking forward to going back here several times and trying several more dishes. Brunch here is next on my list so hopefully I will see you there.

going the distance

This morning was an adventure into the unknown! My cousin recently moved to Miami from Holland with her two small kids and had discovered "a market that made amazing milkshakes and had a petting farm" so based on this statement we set out to recreate the experience with my Aunt and my other cousin. It was a mission that took us to Florida City and beyond but, in the end she was totally right and I had also discovered a place that everyone should know about, Robert Is Here is a roadside market and yes with a petting farm in the back and a milkshake/smoothie bar. The milkshakes were indeed amazing and they used only fresh non-frozen fruits! So refreshing on a summer day where temps seemed to cook the earth's surface. So, if your looking for all natural ready to eat ripe fruits and veggies, home made marinades and jams, a delishy shake or just to go pet some animals by all means discover that Robert Is just a drive away.

tune in

Brilliant simply brilliant! A new network devoted solely to cooking shows...no, I am not referring to the Food Network I am excited to announce the Cooking Channel! Yupi! Personally, I am not one for cooking competition shows except Bravo's Top Chef lately, Food Network is getting to much reality TV and competition friendly. So back to basics a cooking channel where someone is always cooking something up. I mean they have Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson and a couple new hottie's nothing gets better then that!

Check your local Cable provider for the channel so you can tune in and cook up a storm!

muy delicioso

On a Saturday morning last week I had the pleasure to go to breakfast with my very great friend and her son. Yes, I think a mommy friend is the only friend that wakes up as early as I do on a weekend morning. She introduced me to Tinta y Cafe a small yet charming restaurant that serves sandwiches, salads, coffee and vino. Breakfast isn't on the regular menu but, they make the most delicious eggs and egg sandwiches all you have to do is ask. Coffee is served just the way I like it personally with a mug of hot milk and coffee on the side so you can add to your liking.

The place is open till around 5 daily and prices are fantastic! Sandwiches run you around 6 bucks and change and breakfast ran around the same of coffee and eggs, not bad I must say. The decor is very cool just a bit of vintage mixed up chairs and tables very warm and welcoming.

I hope you have a chance to check this one out its definitely worth it.

Eet Smakelijk!
